Cage Your Rage

Cage Your Rage: An Initiative to Reduce Bar Violence is a public education campaign to discourage young men from fighting at bars and nightclubs.

The campaign included radio ads, ads in the back seat of specially equipped taxi cabs and on the screens at movie theatres, and posters in bars, nightclubs, liquor stores and other licensed establishments. The ads were designed to grab the attention of young men, ages 18-24 who research tells us are fairly heavy drinkers and are often involved in violent incidents.

Violence is a concern in our communities and addressing this issue takes commitment by governments, municipalities, police forces, communities, industry stakeholders and individuals.

The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission is committed to working with Alberta Health and other partners and experts to address this issue, as well as additional problem drinking behaviours that encourage violence, such as binge drinking.
